Paul Higgins grew up around Coca-Cola for the entirety of his life. His father worked for a Coke company. He grew up doing various things for his dad’s company. When he went to college, he even worked various jobs for Coke to help pay his bills. After he graduated (with two degrees), he swore he’d never work for Coca-Cola.
But even after those two degrees, the job outlook was scarce.
He bit the bullet and picked up a sales job at Coca-Cola, the place he swore he’d never go back to. Several years later, Paul worked his way quite high up the corporate ladder.
He swore he’d quit, eventually.
That opportunity came later than he’d expected, however, and his job, whilst high-paying, was eating away at quality time he needed to spend with his family.
Finally, Paul left his company and went on to found his current, successful business – Build Live Give.
It wasn’t that simple, however.
What Did Paul Do?
It took six years for Paul to really crack the code with his business.
He started looking into coaching, and achieved several accreditations that furthered his professional role as a counselor.
During those six years, Paul had quite a few rough patches.
There were things he did right, and things he surely wouldn’t do again, given a similar opportunity.
We’re here to talk about what Paul did right because ultimately, that’s all that matters.
Paul is now happier than ever, successful, and has a business centered around his passion: helping people.
Oh yeah – he also gets to spend a ton of actual time with his kids, something he was never able to do in his high-demand corporate job at Coca Cola.
How can you, like Paul, build a life and a business around a passion of yours?
Inevitably, you’ll expand your network and further your connections which, as an entrepreneur looking to start your own company, are incredibly important things.
Collaboration is another benefit of a mastermind group; get feedback and criticism on your ideas, and hear potential thoughts on what you could be doing better.
It’s like an accelerated drafting process.
Finally, a mastermind group will help you push your mental limits and help you learn more, as an individual.
You might think, upon starting a company, that you’ve covered all the bases.
Odds are that you haven’t, however, and being in a mastermind group is a surefire way to ensure that you’re doing everything correctly, and learning what you could be doing better or more successfully.
Long story short: Don’t be afraid to seek help from others.
Odds are that you’re not the only one in the world going through the struggle of finding your way in the world of entrepreneurship, for the first time.
